The main character, even though it's a live action film, will be done with CG animation and will be shot in 3D using the stereo imaging system that James Cameron had been developing for his documentaries.
Will include roughly 1,500 visual effects shots.
James Cameron confirmed in an interview that this will be a combination of the first three books in Yukito Kishiro's series of graphic novels. In another interview, Cameron also said that should this film be successful, he hopes to make another two "Battle Angel" films. By the intended release date of Summer 2009, Cameron hopes that around a thousand theaters across North America will have been equipped with special 3D digital projectors that will be able to screen the movie.
Based on the Japanese manga, "Gunnm". The comic was released in North America under the title "Battle Angel Alita".
She is also set to star as Neytiri in the upcoming film Avatar, being Directed by James Cameron.
Michelle Rodrigez, Sigourney Weaver, CCH Pounder, and Laz Alonzo join Saldana in the flim, which is supposed to hit the screens in 2009. The film will be shot using Cameron's new 3-D camera technology and virtual studio.
Avatar's reported plot break down is :
In the future, Jake, a paraplegic war veteran, is brought to another planet, Pandora, which is inhabited by the Na'vi, a humanoid race with their own language and culture. Those from Earth find themselves at odds with each other and the local culture.
Director Michael Bay has posted some new thoughts over at his official site's forums in regards to the IMAX edition of TRANSFORMERS and some thoughts on the sequel:
"But I just saw the first IMAX print of 'Transformers'. Not depressing - freakin AWESOME! They need to bottle the magic of IMAX because it's the future of cinema."It comes out next Friday the 21st. I added some extra scenes."'Transformers 2', well that's another story. Iching [sic] to work pre-strike (June) so I might jump ship and come back a year or so later cause people at the studio have been dragging for two months. Not sure why. I'll keep you informed."
Damn the possible strike! Unless the opposing sides reach an agreement before the June 2008 strike, no movies or TV shows will be getting greenlit any time soon.
Ryan Rotten is reporting that the next installment of FRIDAY THE 13TH is finally getting prepped for the big screen after years of development hell. The production staff over at Platinum Dunes have been trying to get this film made(unsuccessfully) since the feature film FREDDY VS. JASON, hit theaters in 2003. The film featuring both killers would go on to grab 82.6 million(114.9 mil worldwide) on a 30 million dollar budget.. In the process of this latest quagmire, they've had to ditch a few written drafts and a writer, Mark Wheaton(The Messengers). The new writers hired for the project are Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, the same duo behind FvJ. While we don't know if the original director Jonathan Liebesman is still attached to the project, we do know now that Platinum Dunes is fast tracking this film to the big screen. They want to begin filming in early 2008 and have it fully shot before the impending strike in June. Its strange that they are calling this a remake, as the plans thus far seem to be far from the original - this would be a film about only Jason Voorhees and not his mother, Pamela, who is the actual killer in the original film of the franchise. They played that up throughout the films, and even in FvJ. Time will tell . . .
Zoe Saldana (Haven, Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, Guess Who?, Drumline, and the upcoming Avatar) will be entering the world of STAR TREK in JJ Abram's upcoming installment. The trades, Variety and Hollywood Reporter, are now confirming her casting as Starfleet communications officer, Lt. Uhura. She joins Zachary Quinto (Younger Spock), Leonard Nimoy(Older Spock) and Anton Yelchin (Pavel Chekov) aboard the next theatrical mission of the Enterprise. Transformers scribes, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, handled the screenplay for director JJ Abrams and producers Damon Lindelof & Bryan Burk. Filming will begin this fall on the feature film. STAR TREK hits theaters everywhere Christmas Day 2008.
Ok I am far from a real fan of Britney Spears . . . but she used to at least be entertaining to watch on these award shows . . . this was a huge mistake. It got her in the news but the generally lack of intensity here seems to say that she just doesnt want to do this any more. Also I don't mind that she is thick but some clothes would have been good to cover som eof that up.
Jennifer Hudson has joined the cast of "Sex and the City: The Movie" that begins shooting next week in New York City. J.Hud will play the assistant of Sarah Jessica Parker named Carrie Bradshaw. The movie is expected to hit theaters in 2008.
The hit television comedy series is being made for the screen by New Line in association with HBO. Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon and Chris Noth are all on board to reprise their roles and the show's longtime executive producer, Michael Patrick King, is set to write and direct.
Jen also worked this year on the movie "Winged Creatures" with Kate Beckinsale and Forest Whitaker. She is also set to star as herself in Elmo's Christmas Countdown, a TV Special set to air in December, 2007 which will also feature Ben Stiller, Anne Hathaway, Alicia Keys, Jamie Foxx and others.
Jennifer's debut solo album (Arista Records) is now set for release on the first quarter of 2008. It has been pushed back from the rumored November release date.
NEW YORK - Foxy Brown was sentenced Friday to one year in jail for violating probation that stemmed from a fight with two manicurists in a New York City nail salon three years ago. “I’m not going to give you any more chances,” Criminal Court Judge Melissa Jackson told the 28-year-old rapper. “I hope you turn your life around and never again have to stand in a court of law.” Probation Department officials asked for the hearing after Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, was arrested Aug. 14 in Brooklyn on charges of assaulting Arlene Raymond, 25. Another classic best selling arcade game is prepped for a live-action adaptation inside Hollywood, says Variety. Just a few days after a Joust film was announced, the trade is reporting that Fox and Capcom has chosen director Andrzej Bartkowiak(Doom, Romeo Must Die) to lead up the next version of STREET FIGHTER to the big screen. Filming is to begin early 2008 with production being handled by Hyde Park Entertainment. This adaptation will be based off a script from Justin Marks, the same screenwriter handling the next version of He-Man:Masters of the Universe. This isn't the first time a SF movie made its way to the big screen. Back in 94, Jean Claude Van Damme starred in a version from Universal Pictures. This SF adaptation will focus on Chun Li, the female fighter looking for justice.
Also, for fans of these flicks and fighting games in general . . . The "Dead or Alive" movie does not suck. It is completely over the top, but fun to watch and well done for what it is.
It seems that Spidey star, Tobey Maguire, may be ditching his web persona for a while in favor of giant robots in ROBOTECH, says Hollywood Reporter. The trade is reporting that Maguire and Warner Bros have optioned the rights to the anime manga franchise based off the hit 1980s show. Maguire will help produce the live action feature film under his production company, Maguire Entertainment. Both Maguire and Warner Bros hopes to turn this into the next big sci-fi franchise and is setting it up to be a major tent-pole release. "We are very excited to bring 'Robotech' to the big screen," Maguire said. "There is a rich mythology that will be a great foundation for a sophisticated, smart and entertaining film."
The Head to Head album releases of 50 Cent and Kanye are getting lots of press . . . but honestly, I hope 'Ye outsells 50 just so 50 has to do like he promised - not release any more singles in he is outsold by 'Ye . . . please yall . .go but 'Ye's album . . its a public service at this point!
Some facts and details have emerged online lately over the sequel, LOST BOYS 2: THE TRIBE, which hits DVD next year. Previous reports had both Coreys (Feldman and Haim) & the other Frog brother, Jamison Newlander, also set to appear in this sequel. Apparently, that information may only be half correct because it's being reported now that Corey Haim is angry at Corey Feldman over that much talked about leaked emotional moment that appeared on the "Two Coreys" special. Haim has talked about this apparent feud that Feldman doesn't even know about to MTV recently. If this anger from Haim is real (and not staged which is a possibility here), then only the Frog brothers(Corey Feldman & Jamison Newlander) would be coming back for the sequel.

New Plot Summary: This sequel takes us to the shady surf city of Luna Bay, California, where vampires quickly dispatch anyone who crosses their path. Into this dark world arrive Chris Emerson (Hilgenbrink) and his younger sister, Nicole (Reeser). Having just lost their parents in a car accident, the siblings move in with their eccentric Aunt Jillian and become new prey for the locals’ way of life. When Nicole unwittingly falls for a local vampire, Chris must locate and destroy the gang’s lifeline before his sister’s transformation is complete; to do this Chris finds himself relying on the expertise of none other than Edgar Frog (Feldman). Subtle references to characters from the original film, and cameos from returning actors offer homage to the Lost Boys legend and set a sinister tone of impending doom.
